Icelandic Apathy and Wonder
Melody Woodnutt, a 2009 YAMP mentee, was auspiced by YAQ to attend an Artist in Residency program in Iceland. Since returning, Melody has been hard at work on her interdisciplinary arts practice of visual arts installation and live art and is presenting Apathy and Wonder at Metro Arts from the end of August.
Exploring our existence in relationship to our environments, Apathy and Wonder reflects upon the flux of our humanity in a world greater than ourselves, and discreetly upon art itself and our engagement with it. Inspired by her recent travels to Iceland, Melody has created an immersive installation using light, caverns, darkness and sound to draw you into a new realm.
Developing her works as installations or performance, they use the body and environments to construct a new dimension and consider humanity. A co-director of exist ARI, and a contributing member of international artist collective, Operation France, Melody bases herself between Iceland and Brisbane.
