Troy Emery | Wild Things
Troy Emery | Wild Things
Metro Arts Galleries Program
Troy Emery’s practice has long been underpinned by a fascination with the history of our relationship with animals; how we assign meaning to them, use them in allegory and metaphors, feature them as decorative objects in our homes and in our fashions – both whole and in parts.
In his new exhibition as part of Metro Arts’ Galleries Program, Troy will combine taxidermy, tassels and textiles to present experimental sculptural works within a natural history museum aesthetic.
Troy will create a menagerie of animals in unexpected forms, taking on unexpected roles, outside the natural order as we believe it to be.
Before he returns to his homestate of Queensland to unveil this latest journey into the animal kingdom, you can view some of Troy’s previous works for Sydney’s Firstdraft Gallery and Iain Dawson Gallery online at www.troyemery.blogspot.com
