Navigation Arts Business Training
Navigation Arts Business Training is an accredited training program designed to provide young emerging artists and arts workers with the business skills and know-how they need to convert their talent into a sustainable career in the creative industries.
By the end of the course Navigation participants are expected to:
- Have the essential tools to draft a basic 12 month business plan for their arts business or career.
- Have a better understanding and skills in all study areas, leading to qualification.
All components of Navigation are nationally accredited as part of a Certificate III qualification. Units are:
- BSBCMNG411 - OH&S / Risk Management
- BSBADM402A - Grant Writing
- CHCCD12C - Working with Community
- BSBSBM402A - Project Planning and Budgeting
- BSBSBM403A - Marketing
- ICAU1128A - Design Essentials
- ICAD2012A - Making Presentation / Pitching
The training will be facilitated by a group of experienced, qualified trainers.

Are you eligible to receive Navigation Arts Business Training free of charge?
Navigation is designed to equip young, emerging artists and cultural workers with the key business knowledge and skills required for a sustainable career in the creative industries. The nationally accredited training package is worth $1,600 and fully subsidised for eligible participants.
In order to be eligible for the Navigation Arts Business Training subsidy, you must reside in Queensland and be an Australian citizen, a temporary protection visa holder or a permanent resident of Australia working less than 25 hours per week (averaged over a one month period), AND be one or more of the following:
- 15 – 24 years of age;
- under 30 with a disability;
- under 30 and of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or South Sea Islander background; from a culturally and/or linguistically diverse communities, including recently
- arrived migrants, refugees and humanitarian entrants;
- recently released offenders or ex-offenders;
- parents or carers;
- living in a rural or remote area (outside of Brisbane City Council area);
- people with low levels of literacy and/or numeracy.
If you are working less than 25 hours per week, but do not fit any of the other criteria above, you can still be eligible if you have no higher qualification than a Certificate III. People studying full-time at TAFE and/or University are not eligible.
