Ashlie Bertwistle
Cinematographer
Burpengary
Mentor: Tony Luu
Ashlie Rose Bertwistle is an independent filmmaker and photographer who rarely leaves the house without her camera. During high school, she was heavily involved with performing arts and eventually began writing and directing weekly performances for her peers. With passions for directing, writing and performance, it became obvious that filmmaking was the field she should explore. Without any previous experience behind a camera, Ashlie completed a Diploma of Screen (film) at QANTM College with great success. During this year, she also started her own company, Fallen Rose Media. Since starting her film and photography business, she has shot for fashion designers, theatre companies, dance groups, musicians, local TV programs, music festivals, magazines, and countless Brisbane actors and performers.
In January 2007, Ashlie began the Brisbane Artists Republic, a network for Queensland artists on Myspace. The network encourages artists to work with each other, and also assists them with promotion and exposure. Ashlie also co-hosts 'The Buzz' every Friday night on 99.7FM.
During YAMP, Ashlie will be mentored in cinematography by Tony Luu. Throughout the year, she hopes to gain all the necessary technical skills needed to become a working cinematographer in Australia's film and TV industry.
