Mentor: Katrina Torenbeek - The Queensland Music Festival

Ashleigh Wheeler is an emerging producer, arts manager and contemporary performance-maker based in Brisbane. Ashleigh's love for visually arresting live images and music that cannot be listened to sitting down, coupled with her passion for independent cultural production across all art forms, drives her work in the arts.

In 2008, Ashleigh completed a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Drama) at Queensland University of Technology. She has worked in Production, Human Resources and Front of House capacities for numerous theatre companies and collectives, as well on events such as Riverfestival 2008, the Doch Gypsy Orchestra 2008, St. Jerome's Laneway Festival 2009 and Good Vibrations Festival 2009.

Ashleigh has recently been awarded the Helen Macpherson Smith Arts and Entertainment Management Scholarship from Deakin University to undertake post-graduate study in her field. She is currently working as a Front of House Manager for Queensland Theatre Company and as a deviser, performer and producer with Bottled Theatre - a puppetry collective that she co-founded in 2008.

A major part of Ashleigh's mentorship will involve working with her mentor Katrina Torenbeek on an event for Queensland Music Festival. Ashleigh hopes that YAMP will help her to develop skills in major project coordination and expand her networks in order to foster a sustainable career in arts management.
