Mentor: Janet McKay

Hannah Reardon-Smith is a classically trained flutist with a penchant for beautiful, interesting and cutting-edge contemporary art music. Aside from solo performances in which she presents programs of seldom-heard contemporary works from across the globe, she has performed with prominent chamber ensembles including Brisbane-based Clocked Out and runs her own networking group for socially active musicians entitled Musicians Against Complacency.

Hannah's interests extend from new music performance and activism to radio broadcast and arts journalism and she presents the program Retrospective fortnightly on 4MBS Classic FM. Hannah has also written several articles for Musica fever, and program notes published by Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), The Queensland Orchestra (TQO), Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) and Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO). She is the recipient of many noteworthy awards, including the Victoria Chalmers Award 2005, the Patricia Macdonald Foundation Scholarship 2008, and AYO's Music Presentation Fellowship 2008.
