Drawing on a variety of support materials such as linen, plywood, Masonite, and silkscreen, Karla Marchesi's painting practice investigates relationships between architectural space, place and the body. Employing the domestic interior, the human figure and groupings of paraphernalia as a framework through which to consider the realities modern living and relationships, her work broaches themes of anxiety, privacy, longing and nostalgia.

Karla is an emerging artist who lives and works in Brisbane. She is represented by Heiser Gallery, Brisbane, and has recently been named one of the top 50 most collectable Australian artists for 2009 in the Australian Art Collector magazine.

In 2007 Karla graduated from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, with a Bachelor of Fine Art, First Class Honours. Her work features in a number of public and private collections such as Moreton Bay Regional council's Pine River Shire and Redcliffe city collections.
