Mentor: Scott Witt
While studying Theatre Studies at the University of Southern Queensland, Travis Dowling worked in the capacity of Assistant Director on plays such as The Taming of the Shrew, Three Sisters and Mother Courage and Her Children. In his final year he directed a production of Who's Afraid of the Working Class? and a staged reading of new Australian work, Eastertoon.
In 2008, Travis has been working with Backbone Youth Arts as co-writer of The Café and sound designer for their Spotlight Season, while also running workshops through their holiday program.
As an artist his passion lies both in the creation and direction of new stories dealing with uncultivated ideas and aesthetics and working with children and young people so as to develop himself and other artists.
