Horizons: The Children and Young People and the Arts Sector Vision 2009 - 2013
‘A Queensland that is enriched by the creativity of its children and young people’
If you work with children and young people, either as a school teacher, workshop facilitator, arts administrator, events coordinator, youth worker, or as a volunteer at your local gallery, and you engage them in arts workshops and creative activities, may they be in drama, dance, visual art, film, music, writing, craft or design - YOU ARE PART OF OUR SECTOR.
Our vision is 'A Queensland that is enriched by the creativity of its children and young people'. WE CAN ACHIEVE THIS VISION TOGETHER!
Details about what we are hoping to do are set out in a document referred to as 'Horizons', which you can download HERE.
The document identifies five key areas that need our attention. They are:
- LEADERSHIP - ARTS AND EDUCATION - ACCESS AND EQUITY - ARTS PRACTICE - SUSTAINABLE CAREERS
Have a look and find out what we are aiming to achieve until 2013. YAQ will lead the way but WE NEED YOUR HELP along the way.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:

- Share information about projects you are working on.

If you have other ideas or want to share your thoughts - WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! CONTACT US on (07) 3252 5115 or email info(at)yaq.org.au.
This five-year visioning exercise has been undertaken by the sector for the sector in fulfilment of the Horizons initiative outlined in the Queensland Government Arts Culture + Me: Children and Young People in the Arts Action Plan 2008-2011. The consultation process was managed by Youth Arts Queensland.

This project has received financial assistance from the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
